We have spent the last four years looking for a company that manufactures high quality, safe, and reliable products to offer to our readers. We believe that we have found such a company. The Neways mission is to produce products with no harmful ingredients in any of its 275 products, and to manufacture the safest, most effective consumer products in the world! Our mission is to offer products that would be beneficial to women everywhere, from every walk of life, and in every age bracket that they could feel secure using. For over a decade the Neways family has worked diligently to develop the finest, and safest products available, for you and your family, that meld the best in modern biochemistry, and traditional herbology. This has been accomplished by choosing the highest-quality natural botanical extracts, and other state-of-the-art ingredients, because they are safe, and effective - not because they are cheap to buy, or easily obtainable. Neways makes products that people really want that were once too difficult, or impossible to find. They never settle for the "good enough is good enough" philosophy of other companies. That business philosophy has yielded a multitude of marginal products different in packaging, but nearly identical in content. Instead, Neways always goes the extra mile, investing their hearts, souls, and resources in supplying the products that people really need, and deserve. Ironically, as the industrial/technical age matures, the medical and scientific communities have begun to realize what the personal care industry still seems to ignore: "that many man-made chemicals simply are not compatible with our bodies' natural composition." As sophisticated research is brought to bear, it seems that scientists and researchers are discovering unwanted side effects caused by artificial chemical use. Today the medical, and scientific community has begun to validate traditional herbal treatments that were often dismissed out-of-hand for much of this century. vigor_heading_you_must_have_it.gif Yes, you must have healthy meals. Harold health fitness beauty HEALTH Pronunciation: (helth), —n. 1. the general condition of the physical form or mind with reference to soundness and vigor: good wellness; poor wellness. 2. soundness of physical form or mind; freedom from disease or ailment: to have one's wellness; to lose one's wellness. 3. a polite or complimentary wish for a person's wellness, happiness, etc., esp. as a toast: We drank a health to our guest of honor. 4. vigor; vitality: economic health Meaning of Wellness In any organism, wellness is a form of homeostasis. This is a state of balance, with inputs and outputs of energy and matter in equilibrium (allowing for growth). Wellness also implies good prospects for continued survival. In sentient creatures such as humans, wellness is a broader concept. The World Health Organization defines wellness as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and does not consist only of the absence of disease or infirmity." The most solid aspects of wellness that fit firmly in the realm of medicine are the environmental health, nutrition, disease prevention, and public health matters that can be investigated and assist in measuring well-being. In some societies, wellness involves managing the physical form state after the more basic needs of food, shelter and basic medical care have already been met. Many of the practices applied in the pursuit of wellness, in fact, are aimed at controlling the side effects of affluence, such as obesity and lack of exercise. Wellness grew as a popular concept in the West starting in the late 19th century, just as the middle class began emerging in the industrialized world, and a time when a newly prosperous public had the time and the resources to pursue wellness and other forms of self-improvement. Many early consumer products, from corn flakes to mouth wash, derived from or exploited the emerging interest in wellness. Wellness can include using scientifically-based tests and practices to maintain wellness, as in checking cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, and other body indicators. Or it can include controversial practices, such as avoiding certain foods or taking certain vitamins or alternative medicines. The subjective nature of "wellness" can be illustrated by the hypothetical example of an individual who avoids food additives and is selective in choosing foods to prolong wellness, but thinks nothing of getting in a car and driving hundreds of miles. Statistically, the known risk of mortality or morbidity from automobile usage is far greater than the risk of mortality or morbidity from food additives, but avoiding certain foods and food additives feels "healthy," whereas avoiding automobile use feels merely inconvenient. Even when the techniques used are not scientifically proven, the pursuit of wellness can enhance health by a placebo effect. Someone who feels "well" might lower stress and enhance their sense of well-being, achieving an enhanced psychological state with proven beneficial effects on various body systems, including blood pressure, gastrointestinal system functioning, and immune response. The field of psychoneuroimmunology explores these linkages in a scientific manner, and is also a part of medicine proper. However it is new, and still exploring the biology, and has little or no clear advice to offer other than to avoid unnecessary stress or that which is out of one's control or capacity. Some generically suggest eating a healthy balanced meal and exercising regularly. Wellness. 2. capability of the body of distributing inhaled oxygen to muscle tissue during increased effort. 3. Also called Darwinian fitness. Biol. a. the genetic contribution of an individual to the next generation's gene pool relative to the average for the population, usually measured by the number of offspring or close kin that survive to reproductive age. b. the ability of a population to maintain or increase its numbers in succeeding generations. Meaning of Fitness In a more general meaning, fitness is a general state of good somatic health and abilities. A handicapped person could nevertheless be physically fit. Fitness helps them to compensate disability. Fitness is usually a result of regular physical activity, e.g., physical exercise, and proper nutrition. Cardio is a type of fitness designed to improve cardiovascular strength Task-oriented fitness A individual might be said to be physically fit to perform a particular task with a reasonable efficiency, for example, fit for military service. Military-style In recent years, Military-style fitness training programs has become increasingly popular among civilians. Courses are available all over the US and Europe. They are usually taught by ex-military. Very often the instructors held highly regarded positions within various military organizations. Often times the instructors were formally Drill instructors, Special Forces Operatives or have otherwise distinctive careers. These courses always have some common elements. They often focus on military style calisthenics and group runs. The courses are often held very early in the morning and will meet in almost any weather. Students can expect push-ups, sit-ups, pullups, and jumping jacks, as well as more obscure drills such as flutter kicks, sun worshippers and flares. Almost invariably a workout will include short runs while longer runs are more scheduled. An old course is the The Seal PT Course (http://www.sealptcourse.com) which is held in Houston and in New York City. These courses have been growing more popular lately and are available in more and more locations across the country. SealFit (http://www.sealfit.com) is a Military Fitness website that maintains a list of courses in various areas, as well as facilitating communication between the students of various programs. vigor_divider.gif BEAUTY • noun (pl. beauties) 1 a combination of qualities that delights the aesthetic senses. 2 before another noun intended to make someone more attractive: beauty treatment. 3 a beautiful woman. 4 an excellent example. 5 an attractive feature or advantage. — PHRASES beauty is in the eye of the beholder proverb something which a individual finds beautiful or admirable may not appeal to another. beauty is only skin-deep proverb a pleasing appearance is not a guide to character. — ORIGIN Old French beaute, from Latin bellus ‘beautiful, Meaning of Beauty Beauty is visual pleasantness of a individual, animal, object or scene, and also pleasantness of sound, especially music. Beauty is the opposite of ugliness. Understanding the nature and meaning of beauty is a key theme in the philosophical discipline known as aesthetics. The composer and critic Robert Schumann distinguished between two kinds of beauty, natural beauty and poetic beauty: the former being found in the contemplation of nature, the latter in man's conscious, creative intervention into nature. Schumann indicated that in music, or other art, both kinds of beauty appear, but the former is only sensual delight, while the latter begins where the former leaves off. Decoration is an object or act to increase beauty of a person, room, etc.; see also Interior decoration. It could also be something that is an honor to get, see List of prizes, medals, and awards. A common theory says that beauty is the appearance of things and folks that are good. This has many supporting examples. Most folks judge physically attractive human beings to be good, both physically and on deeper levels. Symmetry may be important because it is evidence that the person grew up in a healthy way, from without visible genetic defects. A traditional, subtle feature that is considered an indication of beautiful women in all cultures is a waist-to-hip ratio of about 70%. The waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) theory was discovered by psychologist Dr. Devendra Singh of the University of Texas at Austin. Physiologists have shown that this ratio accurately indicates most women's fertility. Traditionally, in premodern ages when food was more scarce, fat people were judged more attractive than slender. "Beauty as goodness" still has whole classes of significant counterexamples with no agreed solution. These include such things as a glacier, or a ruggedly dry desert mountain range. Many individuals find beauty in hostile nature, but this seems bad, or at least unrelated to any sense of goodness. Another type of counterexample are comic or sarcastic works of art, which can be good, but are rarely beautiful. It is well known that people's skills develop and change their sense of beauty. Carpenters could view an out-of-true building as ugly, and many master carpenters can see out-of-true angles as small as half a degree. Many musicians can likewise hear as dissonant a tone that's high or low by as little as two percent of the distance to the next note. Most people have similar aesthetics about the work or hobbies they've mastered. The earliest theory of beauty can be found in the works of early Greek philosophers from the pre-Socratic period, like Pythagoras. The extant writings attributed to Pythagoras reveal that the Pythagorean school, if not Pythagoras himself, saw a strong connection between mathematics and beauty. In particular, they noted that objects proportioned according to the golden ratio seemed more attractive. Some modern research seems to confirm this, in that individuals whose facial features are symmetric and proportioned according the golden ratio are consistently ranked as more attractive than those whose faces are not. The Meaning of Beauty-Fitness-Wellness BY: The ExplanationGuide vigor_divider.gif The National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse (NDIC) is an information service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). The NIDDK is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), one of eight wellness agencies of the Public Health Service, which is under the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The NIH campus is located in Bethesda, Maryland, on Wisconsin Avenue (across from the Bethesda Naval Medical Center). Directions and maps are available. NIDDK's Phoenix Epidemiology and Clinical Research Branch is located in Arizona. vigor_divider.gif Long-term depression (LTD) is a weakening of a synapse that lasts from hours to days. It results from either strong synaptic stimulation (as in the cerebellum) or to persistent weak synaptic stimulation (as in the hippocampus). Compare to long-term potentiation. LTD is thought to result from changes in postsynaptic receptor density, although changes in presynaptic release may also play a role. Cerebellar LTD is thought to be important for motor learning. vigor_divider.gifCancer is a group of related diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell division. Currently, it is believed that cancers arise from both genetic and environmental factors that lead to aberant growth regulation of a stem cell population, or by the dedifferentiation of more mature cell types. Normally, cells proliferate only in response to injury, immune responses, or, in a few cases, to replace cells that have undergone apoptotic cell death. Mutations in DNA that lead to cancer appear to disrupt this orderly process. The rapid proliferation of cells can lead to a tumor (or neoplasm) that is either benign (not cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Benign tumors do not spread to other parts of the body or invade other tissues, and they are rarely a threat to life. Malignant tumors can invade other organs, spread to distant locations (metastasize) and become life threatening. vigor_divider.gif Weight loss In the context of physical health, weight loss is the process of losing body weight, usually by losing fat. To achieve healthy weight loss, most experts recommend a combination of healthy eating patterns and regular physical exercise. Some people try to lose weight by using drugs such as fenfluoramine, nicotine or cocaine, herbs such as ephedra, or surgery such as liposuction. vigor_divider.gif Abdomen (from the Latin word meaning "belly") is the part of the body between the pelvis and the thorax. The front of the abdomen is the abdominal cavity, which is separated from the thoracic cavity by the diaphragm. The lining of the abdomen is called the peritoneum, and the rear part of it is the retroperitoneum. The abdominal wall is the skin, fat, muscle, and lining in the very front of the abdomen. Some consider the pelvis a separate section, but there is no structure that separates the two areas. vigor_divider.gif Skin In zootomy and dermatology, skin is an organ of the integumentary system; which is composed of a layer of tissues that protect underlying muscles and organs. Skin is used for insulation, vitamin D production, sensation, and excretion (through sweat). Skin on creatures regularly subjected to sunlight have pigmentation which absorbs the potentially dangerous radiation contained therein. Human skin pigmentation varies across populations in a visually dramatic manner. This has sometimes led to the classification of people(s) on the basis of skin color. See the article on human skin color for more information. Mammalian skin often contains hairs, which in sufficient density is called fur. The hair mainly serves to augment the insulation the skin provides. On some animals the skin is very hard and thick, and can be processed to create leather. Damaged skin will try to heal by forming scar tissue, often giving rise to discoloration and depigmentation of the skin. The skin is often known as "the largest organ in the human body": this does not only (obviously) apply with regard to surface area, but also with regard to weight, as it weighs more than any single internal organ. The skin on a person's face is seen by people that person interacts with. For some people, then, facial skin care is of importance, and cosmetics are made to deal with the appearance of the person's face and condition of the skin, such as pore control and blackhead cleansing. vigor_divider.gif Hair is most commonly that outgrowth of the epidermis found in mammals. Hair is a characteristic of all mammals, though in some species hair is absent at certain stages of life. However, hair is also found on plants, the technical term for which is trichomes (see for further discussion of plant hair). Hair serves a number of different functions. It provides insulation from cold weather and, in some species, from particularly hot weather. Because hair is often pigmented, it provides coloration. This might serve to camouflage an individual; in some mammals, the pigmentation changes with the seasons, becoming white during the snowy winter, for example. In modern Western societies, it is considered manly for men to have hair on their faces, arms, chests and legs, but the hair growing from the top of the head is generally kept short; equally, it is considered womanly for women to have no hair on their bodies, with the exception of pubic hair, but to have a lot of it on the tops of their heads. The hair of non-human animal species is commonly referred to as fur. vigor_divider.gif Why Is Cholesterol Important? Your blood cholesterol level has a lot to do with your chances of getting heart disease. High blood cholesterol is one of the major risk factors for heart disease. A risk factor is a condition that increases your chance of getting a disease. In fact, the higher your blood cholesterol level, the greater your risk for developing heart disease or having a heart attack. Heart disease is the number one killer of women and men in the United States. Each year, more than a million Americans have heart attacks, and about a half million people die from heart disease. How Does Cholesterol Cause Heart Disease? When there is too much cholesterol (a fat-like substance) in your blood, it builds up in the walls of your arteries. Over time, this buildup causes "hardening of the arteries" so that arteries become narrowed and blood flow to the heart is slowed down or blocked. The blood carries oxygen to the heart, and if enough blood and oxygen cannot reach your heart, you may suffer chest pain. If the blood supply to a portion of the heart is completely cut off by a blockage, the result is a heart attack. High blood cholesterol itself does not cause symptoms, so many people are unaware that their cholesterol level is too high. It is important to find out what your cholesterol numbers are because lowering cholesterol levels that are too high lessens the risk for developing heart disease and reduces the chance of a heart attack or dying of heart disease, even if you already have it. Cholesterol lowering is important for everyone--younger, middle age, and older adults; women and men; and people with or without heart disease. What Do Your Cholesterol Numbers Mean? Everyone age 20 and older should have their cholesterol measured at least once every 5 years. It is best to have a blood test called a "lipoprotein profile" to find out your cholesterol numbers. This blood test is done after a 9- to 12-hour fast and gives information about your: Total cholesterol * LDL (bad) cholesterol--the main source of cholesterol buildup and blockage in he arteries * HDL (good) cholesterol--helps keep cholesterol from building up in the arteries * Triglycerides--another form of fat in your blood If it is not possible to get a lipoprotein profile done, knowing your total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol can give you a general idea about your cholesterol levels. If your total cholesterol is 200 mg/dL* or more or if your HDL is less than 40 mg/dL, you will need to have a lipoprotein profile done. HDL (good) cholesterol protects against heart disease, so for HDL, higher numbers are better. A level less than 40 mg/dL is low and is considered a major risk factor because it increases your risk for developing heart disease. HDL levels of 60 mg/dL or more help to lower your risk for heart disease. Triglycerides can also raise heart disease risk. Levels that are borderline high (150-199 mg/dL) or high (200 mg/dL or more) may need treatment in some people. What Affects Cholesterol Levels? A variety of things can affect cholesterol levels. These are things you can do something about: Diet. Saturated fat and cholesterol in the food you eat make your blood cholesterol level go up. Saturated fat is the main culprit, but cholesterol in foods also matters. Reducing the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol in your diet helps lower your blood cholesterol level. Weight. Being overweight is a risk factor for heart disease. It also tends to increase your cholesterol. Losing weight can help lower your LDL and total cholesterol levels, as well as raise your HDL and lower your triglyceride levels. Physical Activity. Not being physically active is a risk factor for heart disease. Regular physical activity can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and raise HDL (good) cholesterol levels. It also helps you lose weight. You should try to be physically active for 30 minutes on most, if not all, days. Time, yoga and yourself Who ever seems to have enough time? And yet, time can widen to accommodate our needs.
